The Mechanical Contact Impedance Evaluation (MCIE) method has not been throughly explored in order to test elastic polymers. In this paper the applicability of MCIE for defining the mechanical properties of elastic materials and structures is discussed in detail. The analytical solution of the resonance state equation shows that the MCIE method is effective in the case of piezo active flexural vibrators which excite the surface of the specimen in the normal direction. The results received from the FEM modal and harmonic analysis, where longitudinal, flexural and torsion vibrators were simulated, support the conclusion above. Experimental results received from the analysis of flexural vibrator show that the MCIE can be successfully used in a comparator to evaluate elastic polymers when quick and nondestructive testing is required.
