An evaluation method of image quality of a video surveillance system is proposed. A test card is designed to evaluate two key indicators which are image definition and coverage range. As an important technical defense means, video surveillance systems have widely been built in important areas to finish many functions, such as security monitor, record and active alert. However the practical use effect is not satisfactory because most of the evaluation methods are developed to evaluate camera performances at laboratory environment.
