Abstract

Laboratory tests were conducted for the purpose of obtaining empirical data on airplane structural cooling. This paper contains a description of the test equipment and the method of operation. Structural temperature measurements are reported for various insulating materials. Data, which indicate the effect of cooling air flow in combination with the insulating materials, are also presented. Some of the data are analyzed, and the magnitudes of effective conductances for use in preliminary design work are presented.
