Abstract

The eight digester towers at New York City's Newtown Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant seamlessly convert sewage into biogas and a dirt-like output, similar to how Mother Nature would do it. At 145 feet high and 80 feet in diameter, each egg holds about 3 million gallons of sludge, converting it into 2 million cubic feet of gas every day.
