This issue of the Journal of Solar Energy Engineering contains several special features including two of the Best Papers awarded at the Solar Energy Division’s annual conference, Solar Forum 2001; announcement of the recipients of the Solar Energy Division’s 2001 Graduate Student Award; a position paper issued by the ASME Energy Committee; and a commentary by Dr. Robert Reid, my predecessor as Editor, who has retired to his solar home outside Knoxville, Tennessee.

Each year, the Technical Committees of the division select best papers from those presented at one of their sponsored conferences. The authors of the best papers are recognized with a certificate and a one-year subscription to the JSEE.
